New release: Beta 2 brings iPhone support. And more!
Friday, 18 December 2009 16:00

A new release of ELIPS Studio3 is available in the developer zone: Beta 2, adding support for iPhone, native widgets and GeoLocation (GPS) APIs.

The release is still available for free to the members of Open-Plug’s Beta Program.

This release adds several exciting new features, asked by many of our users:

  • iPhone is now supported, on top of existing support for Windows Mobile 6.0 / 6.1 / 6.5, and Symbian 9.4 / Series 60 5th edition, Symbian 9.2 / Series 60 3rd edition FP1 and Symbian 9.3 / Series 60 3rd edition FP2
  • Widgets with native mapping: Flex-based UI Components which will, depending on the platform, remap onto platform's UI Components. So that a list on the iPhone looks and behaves like an iPhone list
  • GeoLocation APIs: APIs to get the GPS coordinates (same API as Flash 10.1)
More details about the content can be read on this blog article.

The release can be downloaded starting tonight in the download page.
For full details about its content, refer to the release notes available on the same download page.
Note that all existing users should upgrade to this release, as beta 1.x previous releases are set to expire on January 11, and will not be usable beyond that date.
