New release: Beta 4, what's new...

A new release of ELIPS Studio3 is available in the developer zone: Beta 4, adding support for Mac OS X, and allowing native extensions on iPhone.

The release is still available for free to the members of Open Plug’s Beta Program.

This release adds several exciting new features:

  • Mac OS X (versions 10.5 - Leopard and 10.6 - Snow Leopard) is now supported. Mac users can now install ELIPS Studio and develop Flex mobile applications for iPhone, Android, Windows Mobile on a Mac, without needing a virtual machine or Boot Camp
  • Native extensions on the iPhone: capability to extend the Flex framework with services implemented in the platform, for iPhone in Beta 4. A tutorial is available here
  • Build iPhone apps on a Windows PC: capability to build your iPhone apps, for development purposes, on a Windows PC, without a Mac or XCode.
  • Many other improvements described in the release notes.
